Focus areas for September 2017:
Current Themes: -Writing – report, expository -Maths – Measurement, Number and -Statistics -Algebra
-Science experiments and explanation, -Health – body, Te Reo Maori, History – pre 1900’s NZ, Year 7&8 Kapa Haka
Current goals for this month: -writing and then moderate as a group. -Responsibility – self management and making the right choices/decisions.
Teaching and /or Assessments successes for this month:-Maths has seen top end students making big leaps.
Trends and next steps: -Inference – making students THINK about what they are reading.
-Still inference – more focus on question interpretation and making sure students understand what they are looking for.
-Digital media in CS12 with students producing quality. -Student agency by using their interests in class lessons
-Enrichment classes – moving towards term 4. Self-confidence and self-management, goal setting and reflections
PB4L focus: -Positive praise and empathy with choices. -Sports teams and lunchtime sports.
-Re-emphasise on RESPECT of school rules and EXCELLENCE in attitude.
