Our Kotahitanga students take part in a variety of leadership, sporting and learning opportunities throughout the year. Students being challenged, having fun, having agency of their learning and working in a collaborative manner are at the forefront of what we do.
Learning Opportunities 2018:
Learning through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and creating hands-on, real world learning experiences is important. We have a future focussed approach where we ensure our students are aware of the changing technological world they live in. EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) sees students undertake learning experiences outside the traditional classroom and see things first hand. Through various trips and a camp at the end of the year, students are challenged not just in the classroom but out in the wider community.
Students are able to participate in a wide range of summer and winter sports (e.g. orienteering, swimming, soccer, touch, ultrarip, hockey, netball and many more). As well as interschool sports, students compete in lunchtime sport twice a week and a Kotahitanga sport rotation every Friday.
A variety of leadership opportunities are available to students. Kotahitanga students are able to become Wet Day Monitors, where they interact and take care of our younger students. Students are also able to put their hand up to be Student Leaders, Road Patrollers, Student Councillors, Sports Monitors and many more.
