This term, students will be learning about clothing and how our identity is expressed through what we wear. As such, we would like to invite students to wear mufti next Tuesday 4th of August.
The purpose of wearing mufti is for students to express their identity. Over the weekend please have a conversation with your child and help them choose clothing that expresses their identity and is appropriate for school.
This could include (but is not limited to) sports wear, uniforms from groups they belong to, religious or cultural clothing, jewellery/henna/moko or simply clothing that they enjoy wearing. We will be meeting as a team to share with one another and to discuss how these items express our identity.
What: Mufti Day
When: Tuesday 4th August
Who: Whanake Students
Why: To share what we like to wear and how it reflects our identity.
Cost: Free
In addition to the Mufti day, if you or any family members have any traditional, religious or cultural clothing that you would be willing to share with us, please let your class teacher know.
Kind Regards, Whanake Team.
